Auditors Give Fyde Borough Thumbs Up

Independent auditors have sent the annual “management letter” to Fylde Council – and concluded that the council is securing value for money for Council Tax-payers.

The KPMG auditors spent three weeks at the town hall in August – and other time in their own offices - and their report, considered by the council’s Audit Committee yesterday (Thursday), stated that the council secures economy, efficiency and effectiveness for residents.

Councillor Karen Buckley, Fylde Council’s finance chief, said: “This is the second year in a row that the auditors have concluded that Fylde provides value for money.

“Everyone at the town hall has worked hard to get to grips with the finances and improving services in the face of severe financial restraint.  This audit report demonstrates the robust arrangements that are in place to ensure that the focus is on providing quality services tailored to local need whilst achieving necessary efficiencies.”

Councillor David Eaves, Fylde Council leader, added: “Awareness of the need for efficiency is embedded at every level and that is continuing with the current senior management restructure which will save £150,000 per year.

“Councillors are clear that value for money must be here to stay.”
