There has been a water leak on the Wrea Green side of the bridge for quite some time now, as I am sure many have noticed, but with this freezing weather it seems like an accident waiting to happen. The car tyres have spread a thin film of the water over both sides (perfect for freezing quickly, in fact there was ice and slush there today) and as far down as the bend just before the Insitute. If the authorities (councils, united utilities etc) are aware of this and a serious accident occurs they could be liable for costly damages as no attempt is being made to rectify the leak or warn motorists and pedestrian of the possible serious danger.
I understand that it might be a costly and disruptive job, but at the very least some warning signs should be erected.
I believe there has been more than one water leak as they have been digging holes in various positions. As your Councillor I did contact the LCC after a lady told me about it. I then had a number of requests to check on different days and I did notice that it was gritted even before the traffic lights were put in place. No doubt it will be fully repaired soon. Yes it certainly was icy at one tiime but I have not skidded driving over it. Thank you for commenting on it and its great to see the forum being used again.
