5th July Wrea Green Field Day
Field Day will be on Saturday the 5th July and we are very pleased that Miss Holly Wensley will be crowned our Rose Queen. Holly has lived in the village all her life and is a pupil at Carr Hill High School.
The programme for the Field Day will be as follows:-
11.15 a.m. Fancy Dress participants assemble on the Green. Floats
assemble on the road on the north side of the Green
11.30 p.m. Fancy Dress judging
12.00 p.m. Retiring Rose Queen Parade and Carnival Procession
12.20 p.m. Crowning Ceremony by Andrew Wareing
12.40 p.m. New Rose Queen Parade and Carnival Procession
13.00 p.m. Arena Entertainment and the Fair opens
14.30 p.m. Children’s Races and Family Novelty Sports
15.30 p.m. Children’s Football Match
16.30 p.m. Adult Sports
The procession and adult sports are open to all the family of residents
and also includes grandchildren, friends of residents and those who
attend the school.
The children’s refreshments and sports are limited to the children and
grandchildren of residents and those who attend the school.
Adult Sports Events include
Ladies’ Egg and Spoon, Mixed Wheelbarrow, Ladies’ Skipping, Mixed Three-Legged,
Mixed Horse and Jockey. All these events will be handicapped
Tug of War: Grapes v Institute (for the G Warbrick Trophy)
Ladies’ Tug of War (for the Scully Trophy)
Egg Throwing
Anyone taking part in any Field Day activity does so at their own risk.
Participants in the Tug of War will be required to sign a disclaimer and no bare feet or heavy footwear will be allowed.
Carnival attractions include Cubbin’s Fair, Red Rose Brass Band, Blackpool Circus School and the Fylde Coast Cloggers
Other attractions throughout the day will include the Farmers Market, Twinning Tea Tent and Face Painting by Karen Grundy
