SHOPPING: WREA GREEN
As
a small Rural Fylde Village, Wrea Green has few shops to speak
of.
The local village store is part of the SPAR chain of shops and
acts as a newsagents, post office and grocers. It is one of
the hubs of village life. There is also a general convenience
store at Ribby Hall.
The much missed G&VA Dobsons provided an alternative grocery
store until George, Adrian and Bill retired several years ago.
In 1981, they were the recipient of the prestigious "UK
Shopkeepers of the Year Award".
The greengrocers on Ribby Road shut down several years ago.
The towns of Kirkham (2miles) and Lytham St.Annes (4 miles)
provide the nearest shopping areas. Blackpool (6 miles) and
the City of Preston (10 miles) are where all the major stores
can be found. Fleetwood Freeport is another shopping centre
worth a mention.
Further afield, the towns of Bolton, Southport and Blackburn
along with cities of Liverpool and Manchester have larger
shopping centres and are within an hours drive.
We have provided more detailed information on local and regional
