Site Help & Frequently Asked Questions

How do I view the website?
This site is viewable in either Internet explorer or Netscape navigator. However it uses frames (a way of splitting the page you see into separate independent sections). Because of how the browsers work (and the version you are using) you may get a slightly different view, however the content should be the same If you encounter any problems then please let us know via the Feedback Section. Although any popular browser should be able to view the site, we recommend the latest versions of either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape.

How can I find a certain subject?
Nearly all of the information on the site should be 2 clicks away from the home page. The list of main sections is on the left hand side Navigation Bar (ie Wrea Green, News & Events, Churches & Schools ...etc). Upon clicking on a main section, you will notice that subsection tabs appear at the top of the web page. Clicking on a subsection tab will take you to the appropriate information for that subsection.
... is a subsection tab viewable above the content of this page.

You will also see a "Home" link at the top of this page. Click this link at any time to return to the home page of the web site.

Why has the Site been created ... ?
The objectives of the site are as follows:-

  • Provide information for newcomers.

  • Social information: events, etc.

  • Improve Village community – ‘Social Glue’.

  • Help needed in Village – voluntary and ‘small ads’.

  • Raise funds for Village.

  • Air local issues – newsletters.

  • Keep ex- Wrea Green people in touch.

  • Information on local companies.

  • Update on Parish Council.

Who runs the site ... ?
The site is managed on behalf of the village by the Wrea Green web site group.
Site content, IT infrastructure, publicity etc are handled by working groups, the leader of each working group being a member of the Steering group.
The content group has a village group network (organisation representatives) which feed in information relating to their area. These representatives may be business owners, society or sports club secretaries etc.
The funding to enable the site to be set up and the first year running costs were donated by the Millennium group. Subsequent on going funding is provided by the Parish Council.

How do I get a Wrea Green eMail address?
Firstly must already have an existing email account (i.e. with AOL, BT Internet, Talk21 etc). Then provide us with the information requested by completing the following form. Your new village email address will be in the form of ...[your.name]@wreagreen.org.
It's as simple and as user friendly as that. However please note that we can only allocated one email address per person. Also we are not able to host your email on the village site so it is purely as redirection function

How do I set up my real email account to show the my village name in the 'Sent' field?
Contact your email service provider and they will talk you through the process. Not all email systems run the same way and so we can't explain all the options here.

How can I be of assistance in running the site?
Help is always required particularly as the site grows. Please see how you can help and contact the Editor for details

How do I get information Published on the site?
Anyone on the village can ask to have information added to the site provided it is fair, decent and does not contravene UK laws.
News, Events, Business Listings, Small Ads and Job Vacancies can be added through on-line forms under the appropriate section on the website. These are automatically forwarded to the Editor. If the information you wish to add does not fall into any of these groups then please either contact the organisation representatives or the Editor directly.
